DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PRODUCTO The Poll Winners label is devoted to the reissue of albums that received the maximum 5-Star review ratings in the iconic jazz magazine DownBeat, this release features Sonny Rollins' legendary complete original LP A Night at the Village Vanguard (Blue Note LP 1581), which was the second album presenting the saxophonist in a piano-less trio format, which followed his celebrated initial trio recording Way Out West. Two sets taped at the Village Vanguard, the first featuring accompaniment by Donald Bailey on bass, and Pete LaRoca on drums, while the second featured Wilbur Ware on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. Two rare live piano-less trio performances by Rollins from the same period have been added here as a bonus: a version of I Want to Be Happy" taped at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, and a reading of St. Thomas recorded in Sweden the following year. 2CD set with 12-page booklet containing rare photos, original cover art, and both new and the original liner notes
